The mysteries of the spherical crater

In Week 6 of Term 2 our class focussed on how to write great explanations.

We wrote about the Moon’s different phases as we are in the middle of learning about Planet Earth and Beyond. Learning how to write a great explanation will help us with our self-guided topics in a few weeks time. Here is my writing, after I have self-assessed and peer-assessed my work.

Did you know the possibilities of the moon and how it changes it’s appearance? WOW THEY ACTUALLY CHANGE SHAPE! yes by the way those changes are the eight phases of the moon.The reason why the moon changes shape is because the moon is between the sun and earth as it orbit’s. And 9the reflection of the light makes part of the moon seen and the other parts are shaded when it rotates.

The Moon orbits the Earth in an opposite direction.The Moon fulfil its rotation in approximately 27.322 days. Also known as a lunar month and a little tip is that the moon is the fifth largest planet in the entire solar system.And that it takes the moon (27 days, 7 hours, 43 minutes, 11.6 seconds) to orbit the earth.

As I mentioned before about the moon having eight phases. known to be the New moon,waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full moon, waning gibbous, last quarter and waning crescent those are caused by the lights reflection of the moon.

In Week 5 of Term 2 our class focussed on how to write great information reports.

We wrote about the planet Mars as we are in the middle of learning about Planet Earth and Beyond. Learning how to write a great information report will help us with our self-guided topics in a few weeks time.

Do you know Mars’ great discoveries? well here is some facts about Mars .Mars is an  interesting planet named after the Roman God of war with volcanos that are active knowing the size of the volcanos it is one of many reasons why people do not live on Mars.

Surface features

Mars is also similar to earth, but Mars does have differences it’s just peculiar to the human eye.

The reddish colour of Mars is caused by the presence of it’s rust in its sandy soil. Also it is half the size of earth. Mars and earth both have volcanoes but Mars has an extensive volcano that is called mount olympia  .Just like I mentioned earlier.

Could humans live on mars?

Mars is a very parched planet hardly anybody wouldn't want to live there in fact knowing that Mars is red it might seem as it is a burning planet but do not let it’s colour foul you it is actually a cold planet, humans couldn’t live on mars because it has no magnetic field to block out harmful cosmic radiation. And can cause of skin cancer.

Humans Exploration of mars/Mars’ Moons

Mars is the first planet an astronaut would reach after leaving earth. Did you know that Mars has two moons (one is called Phobos and one that’s called Deimos) they are both funny shaped moons but they are different sizes.Also Mars is known to be the 4th planet in our solar system.

Conclusion.

I hope this synopsis about Mars has given you inspiration to write your own information report and research about Mars. Now knowing about how dangerous Mars is, you are now aware of the surprises coming your way if you decide to travel to this planet.

My ANZAC Reflection.

This week learning about ANZAC was great and I have learnt a lot that I will remember for years Because I took a BIG whiff of rose merry before I started.

What:This week learning about ANZAC was very reflective like remembering about their times and how they sacrificed their lives to fight for their country and to fight for what they believe in.I learnt that there was a man called Simpson who would ride on his donkey to carry injured soldiers.

So What: Simpson was eventually killed on his donkey and he was remembered for his brave duty saving the wounded soldiers that fought and that he also risked his own life to save others.Also learning about your history gives you the opportunity to tell generations about what happened in the past and in the before times.

Now What: I am going to ask more about what happened to my ancestors past and what they did that was legendary and what their remembered for.

I'M A YEAR SIX IN 2015!!!

It's term 1

and so far I've had a great start to the year we've done maths, reading, writing, science

and art. It's been awesome I'm proud of my work so far. It's actually exciting for me to start a new year especially if it's in a brand new classroom known as the Technology room. The only word that describes this is AWESOME!!!
